Churning more Bidayuh entrepreneurs

PADAWAN: The Penrissen Bidayuh Entrepreneurs Association (PUBP) is aiming to play an active role in efforts to produce more entrepreneurs amongst the younger Bidayuh generation in Penrissen.

Its chairman Jores Sidek said the PUBP has underlined various activities to be implemented next year in order to achieve its goals and aspirations.

“These include the setting up of PUBP website, Entrepreneur Expo, business opportunities and financing workshop, Durian Planting Workshop, Entrepreneur Recognition Programme and Charity cum Penrissen Bidayuh Entrepreneur Award Night 2021.

“We are very excited to get these activities implemented, especially the proposed Entrepreneur Recognition Programme where we will give due recognition to successful entrepreneurs in their respective fields,” he said.

He said this when speaking at the closing of PUBP entrepreneurship programme “Towards Empowering Penrissen Bidayuh Entrepreneurs” at St Paul Church Kampung Bunuk’s Parish Hall in Jalan Puncak Borneo, here on Saturday (Dec 19).

Jores added that the proposed programmes and activities, however, would require extensive funding.

“We are confident that the programmes would be beneficial in our aspiration to churn more Bidayuh entrepreneurs from Penrissen,” he assured.

He said the non-profit organisation’s main objective is to become a platform for Penrissen Bidayuh entrepreneurs to build strategic business alliances and create ties with each other for the common good, in addition to becoming an effective training and service providers for both budding and established Bidayuh entrepreneurs in Penrissen.

“Our vision is to be a platform for Penrissen Bidayuh entrepreneurs to forge strategic alliance, professional networking and exchange ideas as well as to promote principled, knowledgeable, innovative and a more progressive Bidayuh entrepreneurs.”

“In the nutshell, PUBP wants to unite, enhance rapport and working relationships among Penrissen Bidayuh entrepreneurs.”

Ideally, Jores said the association also wants to serve as the umbrella body for all Penrissen Bidayuh entrepreneurs, who are currently engaged in the various business fields.

“It is also our intention to facilitate efforts to inculcate and promote entrepreneurship as an option for the Penrissen Bidayuh to uplift their living status, which would indirectly reduce unemployment rate among the younger generation,” he added.
