CIDB briefing attracts 100 students, staff

KUCHING: A briefing on skill competency assessment programme for site supervisors and construction skilled workers organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) attracted 100 students and staff from the Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak (PPKS) and its subsidiary Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (Awisar).

The programme which was held at Awisar recently provided information on CIDB’s functions and procedures to obtain Green Card for the students, and a question and answer session was held after the briefing to further explain the benefits of the skill competency programmes.

The CIDB Green Card is a value-added certification to enhance the Malaysian Skill Certificate (SKM) that PPKS and Awisar students are going to obtain at the end of their training.

CIDB manager Noor Azirhan Sahat said that a long-term collaboration with Awisar is a strategic effort to improve the competency level of skill workers in the state.

The certificate presentation and closing ceremony were officiated at by Awisar general manager Jaidil Yakop.

Also present were representatives from Malaysian Construction Academy (ABM) and The Welding Institute (TWI).

Awisar intake for its automotive and welding programme was held on July 23 and 24.
