MIRI: Miri City now has a brand new landmark in the form of City Rise Hotel.

Rising 17 floors above Jalan Brooke, the four-star 268-room hotel is located in the heart of the city, just 15 minutes drive from the airport and 30 minutes from the Brunei border.

In conjunction with its official opening on Sunday, the hotel is also offering promotional prices for its Standard and Superior units as low as RM100 per night.

The hotel was officially opened by Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, witnessed by  Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting, Miri Mayor Adam Yii , his deputy Ariffin Mohamad,  the group executive chairman of Chiong Ho Ling Sdn Bhd , Tan Sri Ling Chiong Ho and Group Managing Director of Chiong Ho Ling Sdn Bhd, Datuk James Ling Lu Kiong.

Reflecting on the beginning of the hotel’s development,  Group Managing Director, Datuk James Ling Lu Kiong said the construction of the hotel faced numerous challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The lockdown restrictions and supply chain disruptions delayed the delivery of materials and equipment, causing setbacks in the construction timeline.

“Additionally,  travel restrictions and social distancing measures further complicated the construction process.

“Despite these challenges, the hotel management worked closely with contractors and suppliers to ensure the project stayed on track,” he said.
