KUCHING: A total of 208 policemen will be deployed to ensure road safety and maintain public order during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration here.
According to Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, police are fully prepared for the festive occasion and will be stationed at crowded locations, commercial areas and targeted areas.
He stated that the deployment involves a total of 208 personnel, comprising 186 general duty officers and 22 traffic policemen.
“The objective of this deployment is to provide visible policing to the community through the assignment concept that ‘service is accepted and felt’.
“In addition, this effort aims to guarantee the safety of the community and road users and maintain public order in local areas, especially within Kuching city in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration,” he said.
Meanwhile, individuals planning to travel for the festivities are advised to complete the ‘balik kampung’ notification form, available at the nearest police station or online via the Volunteer Smart Patrol (VPS) 2.0 app and Kuching IPD’s Facebook page.
Ahsmon urged those embarking on long journeys to plan their trips meticulously and make necessary preparations beforehand.
That said, the public is reminded to exercise caution while driving and adhere to traffic regulations to ensure everyone’s safety.
