SIBU: About 90 classmates and 20 teachers of Class of 1985 SMK Sacred Heart attended the annual reunion dinner at Kingwood Hotel here, last Friday.

Classmates had returned here from as far as Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Sabah and various corners of Sarawak for the reunion dinner.

Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee, who is the organising chairman of the reunion dinner said 31 March was indeed another milestone for the Class of 1985 (Form 5) of Sacred Heart Secondary School.

“When most of the classmates have or are about to attain their golden Jubilee age of 50, this year’s reunion dinner will be an unforgettable one for the class.

“The theme of this year’s reunion ‘Aged to Perfection’ expresses the joy of the class in attaining a remarkable milestone in life where we have all gone through our respective journey in education, career, family and friendship in the past good 50 years.

“One thing which made us proud is the cohesive bonding among the classmates which grew from strength to strength after series of reunion for the past three years. That close friendship resembles old wine which has aged to perfection,” he said during the reunion dinner held at Kingwood Hotel here last Friday.

Hii also said that in the afternoon they had a friendly football match with members of the Class of 1988.

“We enjoyed the fellowship and most important of all, the recollection of the good old days they spent together on the school’s football field.

“We were particularly touched by the presence of 23 of our teachers.

“They (our teachers) were overjoyed when they met their former colleagues; some have not bumped into each other for the past 30 odd years. The teachers and students had a good time at the dinner.

“We have announced that next year our class reunion will be held at Kingwood Hotel here on Friday, 30 March, 2018. We are trying to get at least 150 classmates and teachers in next year’s reunion dinner,” Hii said.
