KUCHING: The last thing we want to happen is to see our classrooms polarised by political sentiments, said Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap.
It is therefore important that teachers impart simple concepts of unity and teach their students without partiality or prejudices as we are all one people, he said.
During a visit to SKJS Stampin here he asked teachers to continue to guide and teach their students the importance of unity in diversity due to the country’s diverse racial and religious background
“Teachers should set aside their personal bias when handling sensitive discussions related to conflicts in the Middle East, racial and religious sentiments,” he said.
Yap also said that he had allocated RM200,000 for the installation of a LED screen and tiling of the corridor on the first floor of the school.
“This allocation is under my Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funding for this year and the upgrading works will be implemented and supervised by councillors and staff from Kuching South City Council (MBKS).
The Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of the school had told him that the current flooring is not smooth.
“I have requested them to speed up the upgrading works in order to ensure the benefits can be delivered speedily for the teachers and students of the school,” he said in a statement.
