KUCHING: Claudia Jara Luke, 22, from Sibu defeated eight other finalists to emerge champion in the inaugural “Kumang Gawai Dayak R&R Borneo Cultural 2019” held at Kampung Sungai Apong Baru here over the weekend.
Claudia brought home RM500 cash, crown, sash, trophy, bouquet of flowers, perfume set worth RM300, Hannan Medispa voucher worth RM1,000 as well as cash voucher from Jenny Bibi Beauty Centre. She also won Miss Intelligent and Best Catwalk subsidiary titles.
First runner-up was Jessica Awing Ureng, 24, from Miri. She walked away with RM400 cash, crown, sash, trophy, bouquet of flowers, perfume set worth RM300 and Hannan Medispa voucher worth RM500. Jessica also won three subsidiary tittles, namely, Miss Natural Beauty, Miss Popular Multimedia and Best Costume.
Madline Awat, 21, from Sebuyau won the third prize. She brought home RM300 cash, crown, sash, trophy, bouquet of flowers, perfume set worth RM300 and Hannan Medispa voucher. She also won Miss Talent and Miss Fitness subsidiary titles.
Other subsidiary titles winners were Miss Photogenic (Elviana Alis), Miss Beauty Smile (Cassandra Clara), Miss Best Presentation (Mariani Openg), Miss Congeniality (Emy Anatasia and Emelda Meringai), and Miss Audience Choice and Miss Multimedia Social (Bennysa Man).
Present to give away the prizes were Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan and his wife Datin Melinda Claudia.
Snowdan also announced the allocation of a fund to R&R Borneo Cultural.
The event was made merrier with various activities such as lucky draws, best dress awards, fashion show, and performances by local artistes.
