KUCHING: The biennial Hadrah Competition saw Suara Nurul Hilal from Kampung Pulo Hilir emerged champion in both the Children and Adult Categories of the competition held at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak here, yesterday.
The children team was managed by Osman Saie while Rosli Marzuki managed the adult team.
Held in conjunction with the Sarawakiana Festival 2017, the competition’s main objectives were to promote Hadrah among the younger generation in the state and to preserve the hadrah culture which has been passed down from generation to generation.

In second place of the children category was Suara Warisan Seni also from Kampung Pulo Hilir, managed by Shaimi Hapni while in third was Kumpulan Hadrah Al-Maulana from Taman Matang Jaya managed by Mohamad Rizal Ahmad Maulana.
Meanwhile, in the adult category the first runner-up went to Suara Sinar Iman from Kampung Kudei Baru managed by Bakri Maon while the second runner-up went to Hadrah Surau Darul Ibadah from Kampung Sejingkat managed by Jamuni Ramlee.
All three winners from each category received their prizes at the closing ceremony of the Sarawakiana Carnival yesterday.
They will also performed at the closing ceremony.
