Steps have been taken to overcome the clean water supply problem in Balingian with the implementation of “Package CR2 (Central Region) – Work Order 1” under “Sarawak Water Supply Grid Programme – Stressed Areas.”
The affected areas are Daerah Kecil Balingian, Kuala Balingian, Setuan Besar, Setuan Kecil, Setejok, Bayan Tasik, Bayan Ulu, Bukit Ambun, Sungai Liuk and Temesu.
In response to Abdul Yakub Arbi (GPS-Balingian), Water Supply Assistant Minister Datuk Liwan Lagang said that the project involved upgrading the system of water distribution from the existing booster pump station in Mukah to Balingian, Kuala Balingian and Serupai.
“The project is currently in the process of construction and is scheduled to be completed in Jan, 2021.
“However, we will deliver water to the related areas by using a water tank lorry from time to time according to their needs,” he added.
Liwan revealed that the water distribution system project cost RM36.7 million and the work scope of the project involved the construction and upgrading of the pipeline system, booster pump station and water tanks.
