KUCHING: The water supply project for Kampung Klid and Kampung Narub implemented under the Sarawak Alternative Water Supply (Sawas) programme was carried out smoothly.
Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the progress of the water supply project for the two villages is at 76.9 percent completion.
“This is very important for the residents of Kampung Klid, Kampung Narub and Kampung Sua, including the nearby schools.
“This is a high impact project. The chief minister’s (Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) walkabout project to ensure our people who are far in the interior, which is difficult to be accessed, can be supplied with clean water supply through Sawas,” she said during a visit to the project site at Kampung Klid, Dalat.
Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said she was also given assurance from the project implementers that they will work hard to ensure the project is completed earlier than the stipulated period.
“The villagers will hopefully be able to enjoy clean water supply before the end of this year,” she said.
She also hoped that other projects such as roads connecting Kampung Klid and nearby villages would be carried out as planned.
