KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Maternal and Child Health Clinic Sebisak here is a Baby-Friendly Clinic.

This was revealed by Sister Lucy Hosea Drang during the Breastfeeding  Month celebration at the clinic here yesterday.

She explained that the clinic received the recognition because mothers at the clinic had breastfed their babies exclusively for a period of six months and above..

“Parental support is crucial for continuing the status of  the clinic as a Baby-Friendly clinic in  future,” she added.

Earlier,  Medical Officer at the clinic, Dr. Nur Zulieffa Zakaria said that August was the month for the World Breastfeeding Celebration.

“Mother’s breast milk is a special gift for mothers to their children.

“We believe that it is not easy to  breastfeed  babies exclusively for six months but breast milk is the  best food for a newborn,” she added.

At the function, certificates were also presented to mothers who successfully breastfed their babies exclusively for six months.
