Close call for three motorists in vehicle crashes

KUCHING: Three local men had a close call when their vehicles skidded and crashed in separate accidents on Sunday (Aug 25).

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received three emergency calls in Bintangor, Daro and Sibu.

In Bintangor, a 31-year-old man suffered a broken right arm after his Toyota Camry overturned in a ditch near the Jalan Narasit junction along Jalan Sibu-Bintangor.

Firefighters from Bintangor station were dispatched to the scene, about 20km away, after receiving a distress call at 9.08pm.

Upon arrival, the team assisted the victim out of his vehicle before handing him over to the paramedics for further action.

Meanwhile, a 38-year-old man sustained chest injuries in Daro after his Perodua Viva skidded and crashed into the bushes along Jalan Utama Tebaang-Daro.

Firefighters from Daro station were dispatched to the scene, about 7km away, after receiving an emergency call at 9.45pm.

The victim was rescued by passers-by and taken to the hospital for further medical attention.

In Sibu, a 49-year-old man sustained head injuries and a broken right arm after his Perodua Axia collided with a metal road divider along Mile 6, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Firefighters from Sungai Merah station was deployed to the scene, about 13km away, after receiving a distress call at 10.41pm.

Upon arrival, the team applied a cervical collar to the victim before carrying him out of the wrecked car.
