KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said that he and the community leaders under the Kota Sentosa constituency will continue to monitor the implementation of the street lighting projects closely.
In his press release, he stated that this is to ensure that unnecessary delays are avoided.
“Adequate streetlights are important as they increase visibility, promote road safety for drivers and pedestrians and can also discourage night time theft or violence,” he said.
He said this after a meeting and discussion recently with representatives from Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), and Kuching South City Council (MBKS) for the implementation of the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for installation of street lighting worth amounting to RM1 million.
He also added that he is committed to use the RTP funding allocated to Kota Sentosa for people-centric projects to upgrade and improve basic facilities and amenities, including community halls, public roads and drains.
“This is because Kota Sentosa, despite being an urban constituency, has been left behind during the last fifteen years and it is critical that basic infrastructure must be improved and upgraded for its continued progress,” he added.
He also said that he is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone facing problems in his constituency or who comes across problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with it.
