TEBEDU: The 13th Royal Malay Regiment as the representative of Malaysian army together with 642 Kapuas Infrantry Battalion representing the Indonesian army joined hands in an operation to monitor the Malaysian-Kalimantan borders from Entikong, Indonesia to Tebedu in Malaysia starting 21 till 30 April.
During the closing ceremony yesterday, Brigadier General Mohd Bustaman bin Hj Mat Zin, the Commander of Third Brigade at Tebedu was given the honour to do the official closing event, said a press statement yesterday.
The joint patrolling exercise along the border was held for ten days. Their main aim was to monitor criminal activities from both sides of the border such as smuggling of controlled items, illegal logging, illegal immigration or illegal entry and other law-breaking activities.
During the operation, events such as ‘jiwa murni’ by the Malaysian army and its Indonesian counterpart were held to involve local communities.
Also present during the closing ceremony were Brig. General of TNI Bambang Ismawan, representatives from both security agencies of the two countries and local community leaders in Tebedu, the statement concluded.
