KUCHING: Members of the public are advised to take note of four road closures for the coming decorated boats parade, which will be held at Kuching Waterfront on Saturday (July 29).
They are Jalan Wayang-Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Old Court House, Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang and Jalan Power-Jalan Market.
Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah in a statement, said it is to ensure the smooth process of the programme.
“Road closures will be carried out on the day of the parade at 4.30 pm and it will be reopened to the public as soon as the event ends.
“In this regard, the public are advised to park their vehicles at designated areas namely Reservior Park, Saujana Building, Medan Pelita, and the parking lots of Sarawak Plaza and Plaza Merdeka,” he said.
However, the need for road closures will depend on the current situation if it is deemed appropriate based on the assessment of traffic flow by traffic policemen, so as not to disturb road users who want to go about their daily activities.
Ahsmon also advised the public to adhere with the traffic control signs directed by on-duty policemen.
They are prohibited from parking by the roadside which will cause traffic congestion.
