SIBU: A 30-year-old man, Mohammad Zulkhairi Roslan from Kampung Hilir, was fined RM3,000 today (June 7) for trespassing with intent to steal at the Sibu Island Club at Teng Chin Hua road on May 27 at 3.30 am.
Magistrate Romario Jonoi convicted Zulkhairi after he pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 448 of the Penal Code.
The court heard that he ransacked the meeting room, office room, and bar, stealing RM550 in cash and four bottles of red wine.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Kumareswaran Murugan said a club employee lodged a police report that the premises had been broken into.
Police later detained him on the following day at Jalan Nenas based on a tip-off.
Zulkhairi, who was unrepresented, was ordered to serve the default sentence of three months’ imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.
