KUCHING: Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Datuk Abang Openg attended the 67th Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) Committee and Third Youth Section Installation Ceremony at Hilton Hotel here on Monday.
In his speech, Johari pointed out that political stability was the main driving force behind the development of the state. Johari, who also leads the state Barisan Nasional (BN), added that his party would use political stability to develop the state further.
“Among the factors that determine political stability is the teamwork between the coalition of ruling parties and in this aspect, we have successfully achieved that,” he added. Johari also said that under his administration, the government would focus on the development of the state’s economy and continue the policies started by his predecessors.
“While the late Chief Minister, Pehin Sri Adenan Satem wanted to lower the costs of living through initiatives like lowering electrical tariffs and abolishing tolls, my policy will focus more on increasing the development of the state economy. “I want to increase the development of the economy so that we can see an increase of income and, at the same time, expand business opportunities in various sectors,” he explained.
