KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday morning distributed sacrificial meat to 210 underprivileged recipients from 14 Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok sub-branches during the Sacrificial Ritual Programme at the Satok Sports Complex in Kampung No. 6, Satok here.
The meat was also distributed to seven special needs persons from the Sri Satok Community-based Rehabilitation Centre (PDK).
Five cows, contributed by PBB Satok, and another one, contributed by the Petra Jaya
welfare body, were sacrificed during the “Korban” ceremony organised by the PBB Satok Religious Bureau.
In his speech at the launch of the ceremony, Abang Johari reminded the Muslim community to safeguard unity in recognition of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to obey God’s command to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of submission to God.
“The most important thing is to strengthen our unity,” he stressed.
