SINGAPORE: Singapore Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan treated to breakfast Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Rahman Johari Tun Openg and members of his entourage who were here in conjunction with the soft opening of the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office (Statos), last Friday.

Statos primarily functions as a one-stop centre to enhance Sarawak’s position as Singapore’s traditional trading partner.

Dr Balakrishnan and Abang Johari had an hour-long discussion over breakfast on topics of mutual interest for both Singapore and Sarawak. Among them was a two-way trade and tourism between the Island Republic and Sarawak in particular.

Present was the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore Datuk Zainol Rahim Zainuddin.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also the Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Minister; Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; and Acting State Secretary Datuk Jaul Samion.
