KANOWIT: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is scheduled to declare open the new Nanga Machan Agriculture Office tomorrow.
The RM4 million-office sits on a 1.2-hectare site near the Nanga Machan bazaar.
The office is among several new work places of the Agriculture Department in rural areas throughout the state.
The department is now stepping up efforts to modernise the state agriculture sector by emphasising on its extension programmes.
It is introducing new programmes and activities to help farmers and breeders generate more income.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also the Minister of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development, today visited the office to see the preparations for its opening.
He was joined by Machan assemblyman Allan Siden, his ministry’s permanent secretary Edwin Abit and State Agriculture Department director Dr Alvin Chai.
The chief minister is also expected to announce some goodies to farmers and breeders in the Machan constituency during the ceremony.
