KUCHING: Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has decided to extend the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in the state starting Mar 1 to Mar 15, 2021.

The decision was made after witnessing and evaluating the present situation in the state which saw an increasing number of the Covid-19 positive cases in Sarawak. 

“The CMCO will take effect Mar 1, 2021 from 12.01am to Mar 15, 2021 at 11.59pm,” it said in the statement on the Covid-19 daily update today (Feb 26).

SDMC said that they have also made a risk assessment after positive cases involving Sentosa area in Sibu District.

“Thus it has also been decided that the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will be enforced for Sentosa Resettlement Scheme Phase 2, Sibu effective Feb 27 (12.01am) to Mar 12 (11.59pm),” it said.

On Feb 13, SDMC said the CMCO in Sarawak are enforced from Feb 15 to Mar 1 to curb the spread of Covid-19, while the districts of Sibu, Selangau and Kanowit have been placed under MCO since Jan 16 to Feb 14, and the district of Kapit and Song were placed under MCO from Feb 2 to Feb 15.

Following the expiration of the MCO in Sibu, Kanowit, Selangau, Song and Kapit districts, it joined the rest of the district placed under CMCO.
