BINTULU: The Chung Hua Association’s youth wing in Bintulu, together with Times Square MegaMall Bintulu, is hosting the 2024 Chinese New Year Carnival at the shopping centre from January 24 to February 4.
The carnival was aimed to promote awareness of traditional Chinese culture among the younger generation and offered an opportunity for the Chinese community to prepare for the celebration on February 10.
Various booths are showcasing essential items such as New Year food, goods, accessories, and festive items for the Chinese New Year and Spring Festival.
The Chinese New Year Carnival will also be enlivened with cultural and artistic exhibitions of Chinese culture, as well as performances on the Chinese cultural stage.
Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, in his speech to officiate at the carnival,
described it as the best platform to revive the nostalgia of the celebration, especially among the younger generation.
In his text-of-speech read by his special officer Steven Kong Kai Seng, he said with approaching Chinese New Year celebration, purchasing New Year items is important for the celebrants.
Also present were Chung Hua Association Bintulu chairman Yii Ming Ing and its youth wing chairman Yap Kwok Shian.
