KUCHING: The Che Hui Khor Moral Uplifting Society Kuching and Samarahan held the Sejambak Kasih Programme in conjunction with the upcoming 2023 Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.

The programme saw food baskets being distributed to those in need. Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin was present to hand out the donations to 45 recipients chosen from the area’s underprivileged community.

Yap said the government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) never marginalise the less fortunate every time the festive season arrives.

“The efforts of this organisation are very good and I encourage NGOs and the community to always help each other,” he said after presenting the donations in Kota Sentosa on Monday (Jan 2).

He added that this kind of donation was not only implemented during the CNY season but also covered Gawai Dayak as well as Hari Raya and other festivals.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Sejambak Kasih programme will cover six areas, including Kota Sentosa, Beliong, Asajaya, Matang, Padawan and SJK Chung Hua No. 3.
