SELANGAU: A lorry laden with coal was engulfed in flames along Jalan Selangau-Mukah today (Jan 18).
Fortunately, the driver managed to evacuate to safety without sustaining any injuries in the 12.25 pm incident.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Selangau station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call.
Upon arrival, the fire had caused 80 per cent damages to the vehicle and the extinguishing deed was performed using water from the fire truck.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation at 1.35 pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
