MIRI: A 71-year-old woman made a startling discovery this morning when she came across a cobra while cleaning outside her house.

The snake, approximately half a metre in length, was found nestled in a pile of old shoe rack wood.

The incident took place at a residence on Jalan Nestum Morsjaya.

The homeowner immediately contacted the Miri Civil Defence (APM) for assistance. The emergency call was received at 10.11 am, prompting a swift response from APM members.

Upon arrival, APM personnel quickly assessed the situation and managed to capture the cobra in under ten minutes.

The team ensured the safety of the residents and handled the snake with care.

Following the capture, the cobra was safely relocated and released back into its natural habitat.
