KUCHING: The establishment of the Sarawak Entrepreneurship Development Coordination Committee (SEDCC) aims to collaborate with relevant agencies and departments to enhance the entrepreneur industry in the state.
This was said by Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan during a press conference after a meeting on the subject matter at Pullman Hotel here yesterday.
“With this committee, we can also maximise the usage of whatever resources we have.
“At the same time, we will be able to build up a framework mechanism for more manageable and systematic projects and programmes to ensure that each initiative reaches its target,” he said.
Tengah, who is also the Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, said that the SEDCC will comprise five technical committees each led by a different agency or department.
The five technical committees are Capacity Development (MIED), Fund and Equipment Assistance (SME Corp), Business Premise (SEDC), Marketing (FAMA), and Research, Innovation, and Creativity (MARDI).
“These technical committees will have their own functions and working scopes,” he said.
At the same time, the minister also revealed that they are planning on announcing a portal for all the activities and programmes coordinated from those involved in SEDCC.
“It will be able to reach out and provide better coverage on the various types of assistance and information related to entepreneurship.
“We hope to launch it latest by next year,” he said.
Also present during the press conference was Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and SME Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais.
