KUCHING: The Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) is looking to work with the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) to design and execute road safety measures throughout Sarawak.
This is to enhance overall road safety standards and effectively reduce road traffic accidents and fatalities.
Sarawak Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin conducted a working visit to the MIROS headquarters in Kajang, Selangor recently.
The purpose of the visit was aimed at enhancing cooperation and establishing a strong partnership between MOTS and MIROS.
During the visit, MIROS chairman Professor Dr Wong Shaw Voon enlightened Lee, who led the MOTS delegation, on the institute’s newest activities and operations.
The delegation observed a demonstration video of a traffic crash test at the MIROS showroom, as well as a live demonstration of driver’s distraction performance utilising a driving simulator.
Several topics were discussed during the visit including road safety in Sarawak. This includes road safety audit and star grading methods, crash investigation and analysis, and the implementation of the Malaysian Road Assessment Programme.
