BINTULU: Deputy Premier Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian has called on Chinese voters in the Jepak state constituency to come out and vote on Nov 4.
He said they should exercise their responsibility and not just be by-standers.
“Although there are only about 1,400 Chinese voters in Jepak, the community must cast their votes because we don’t want people to say that the Chinese are just ‘just looking’ and always unhappy.”
Dr Sim who is also president of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) said a big victory by GPS candidate Iskandar Turkee will prove that the people there fully support what the GPS government is doing for Sarawak.
“The vote is not just for Iskandar himself but for GPS to continue the legacy of the late Datuk Talib Zulpilip,” he said at the SUPP Bintulu Branch Unity Dinner here.
He said the agenda of unity and inclusive development emphasised by GPS allows every layer of society to benefit from it.
“GPS always strives to unite the people (through) sustainable development in order to benefit all parties in the state,” he said.
Also present were Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang, Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon and Iskandar Turkee.
