Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg offered three state government incentives for students who want to continue their education at UTS during the launch of UTS on November 10, 2021.
The incentives are a part of the initiative to lower the cost of and increase the accessibility of higher education for Sarawak citizens. These incentives are the UTS Foundation Scholarship, UTS Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarship, and UTS Bursary Scheme.
The UTS Foundation Scholarship covers the tuition fee of RM10,000 per student.
Meanwhile, all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are eligible for a 50 per cent tuition fee discount through the UTS Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships.
The UTS Bursary Scheme, a collaboration between UTS and Yayasan Sarawak, aims to provide tuition fee assistance to Sarawakians who fall into the B40 and M40 categories by reducing their costs by 80 per cent.
This scheme will accommodate 100 bumiputera students and 100 non-bumiputera students each year.
