BAU: A commercial centre wholly owned by a Bidayuh entrepreneur will be operational in Kampung Serikin soon.
Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the commercial centre will take advantage of the cross-border trade between Sarawak and Kalimantan, Indonesia, once the international border is open.
He praised the local entrepreneur for the initiative which he said would uplift the socio-economy of the villagers.
Henry was officiating at the closing ceremony of Kampung Serikin Sukaneka carnival as well as Gawai open house at the village on Monday (June 6).
At the event, he approved an allocation of RM10,000 under his minor rural project (MRP) for the youth in Kampung Serikin to organise sports activities and leadership programmes.
