MIRI: The state leaders are committed to ensuring the ongoing development of infrastructural facilities and basic amenities, said Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
“Yes, the planning to bring about and the implementations of these development projects definitely take time and effort to complete; we don’t have ‘Aladdin’s magical lamp to finish those projects in one day, and the rakyat must able to understand,” he explained.
Speaking at the opening of programme “Jelajah Belia Sarawak 2020(Piasau)” on Saturday at Miri Civic Centre, he added, those who always criticised the government should understand that the process was time consuming.
Nearly 100 local youths were invited to the event.
Also present was Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting who is also Piasau assemblyman.
“The Aladdin’s magical lamp is just a fairytale story, with just one rub, he could request anything from the lamp genie, while in reality, its takes time and endless efforts to complete what we have planned for the rakyat as much as possible,” he pointed out.
He added, Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had always been passionate about developing digital development especially on telecommunication and broadband connectivity to the people in rural Sarawak.
“It takes time and that is the thing that we have to understand,” he said.
On another note, the minister reminded and urged the people especially the youth to preserve racial understanding and tolerance, and avoid any form of racism as these have always been crucial to Sarawak’s strength.
“Preserve and maintain what have bonded us together all these years,” he said.
