SADONG JAYA: The Education Ministry (MOE) is committed to strengthening internet coverage in Sarawak and Sabah in line with the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
Deputy Education Minister II Datuk Mohamad Alamin said in the 12MP, the government wants to ensure that the implementation of projects for dilapidated schools can be stepped up, which also includes the digitisation of education.
“We want to ensure that more schools get internet coverage and this is one of our focuses.
“Besides that, we will also collaborate with other ministries for assistance to achieve our goals,” he said in a press conference after a working visit to SK Pendam, here yesterday (Oct 3).
He said this follows the issue of having no internet coverage for some during home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) sessions.
“Through the 12MP, we also focus on the digitisation of education as informed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during the presentation.
“Sarawak, Sabah and the whole of Malaysia need to be given focus for the digitisation of education,” he said.
Mohamad said that collaboration with relevant ministries would serve to assist in providing digital and hardware understanding to teachers and students.
“We will also supply devices to students, especially those from the B40 group.
“Hopefully we can help to ensure that the level of education is satisfactory,” he said.
