SIMANGGANG: The Taman Harmoni Community Hall Management Committee were formed on Sunday (March 7) to manage the use of the newly repaired hall and coordinate the activities that will be held there.
Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis stated that the committee would also be responsible in maintaining the safety and the cleanliness of the hall.
“The hall, which has been repaired at the cost of RM200,000 through the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), is to provide a place to hold various activities that would benefit the community in Taman Harmoni,” he said during the meeting on the formation of the committee.
Harden stated that the construction and upgrading of the hall was a request made by residents from Taman Harmoni.
“Initially, this hall was built by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). However, when it was completed, HDC did not hand it over to the committee.
“Due to that, the hall was abandoned and used to carry out unhealthy activities. That is why, to prevent the place from becoming a hotspot for unhealthy activities, the government has agreed to upgrade it,” he explained.
Harden said he tried to commence upgrading works so that the hall will be used in accordance with its original purpose and with the help of Sri Aman District Council (MDSA), upgrading work was done without a hitch.
“The current committee that was appointed is for the 2021-2022 term and the appointment for the next term will be made by the committee itself through the main meeting,” he said.
