KUCHING: A new Covid-19 community cluster was declared in the state on Friday (Sept 17), dubbed the Sungai Pana Cluster in Beluru.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the community cluster was detected at a longhouse under the enhanced movement control order (Emco), located at Sungai Pana, Tinjar, Beluru.
“Out of 149 individuals screened, 34 persons including the index case tested positive for Covid-19, while 78 were negative and 37 others are waiting for their lab results.
“Eight new cases have been reported today,” SDMC said in its daily updates on Friday.
It said all the positive cases were admitted to Miri Hospital and the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Miri District for isolation and further treatment.
At the same time, it announced the end of three clusters, namely the Melikin Cluster in Serian, Jalan Airport Lama Cluster in Bintulu and Jalan Bubut Sojak Cluster in Bau, after no new cases were recorded involving these clusters in the last 28 days.
Meanwhile, 15 of the state’s 136 active clusters registered a total of 176 new cases on Friday.
