MUKAH: Recently, 33 individuals, including youth, volunteers, and the general public, took part in the ‘Kaul Mukah Beach Cleaning Programme’.

Mohamad Syazuan Ideris, the Programme Director, mentioned that initially, over 100 people had shown interest in participating. However, due to unfavourable weather conditions, the programme had to be postponed to another day.

A total of 124 plastic bags were filled with rubbish and debris following the programme.

“Alhamdulillah, with the efforts of these 33 individuals, we collected 124 bags of plastic garbage. Despite some remaining trash on the beach, we take pride in our accomplishment,” he informed Suara Sarawak.

He explained that the programme’s objective, which was to clean the beach area and encourage the youth and volunteers from Mukah to join hands, had been successfully achieved. Simultaneously, they aimed to ensure the consistent cleanliness of the beach and educate the local people about maintaining a clean environment.

“To maintain the beach’s cleanliness, we plan to organize similar programmes after the Kaul Mukah Festival, scheduled for this month. Insha’Allah, we aim to conduct regular cleanups, such as once a month on specific dates,” he added.

Syazuan expressed his gratitude to the Mukah Division Youth and Sports Office, P213 Mukah Community Service Center, Millenium Creative Solution, Mukah Parliament Youth Organisation, and Wecky Hamper and Gifts Shop for their collaborative efforts in organizing the programme.

He further emphasized the importance of public awareness in not littering, especially at Kaul Mukah Beach, as it serves as a significant attraction for visitors.

“As residents of Mukah, it should be a matter of shame if the place is not well-maintained and filled with garbage. We share this beach and must take care of it collectively. Therefore, we urge everyone to dispose of their garbage at the designated disposal sites,” he added.
