KUCHING: A community leader for the Sarikei Chinese community has resigned as advisor and member of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), a state opposition party.

Pemanca Chan Phan Chan said he realised that community leaders, being part of the government, were prohibited from joining an opposition party.

He said he took the advice of the Sarikei Resident to relinquish his roles in PSB and resign from the party.

Meanwhile, Chan thanked Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii for recommending the extension of his appointment as a community leader.
