KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSK), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) organised a seminar titled ‘Urban Community Leadership Seminar in the IR4.0 Era’ on Thursday (Aug 19).
The online seminar was a University Social Responsibility (USR) project, in line with the goals and commitment of Unimas in contributing to the local community.
The seminar was jointly organised with the Kuching District Community Leaders and Tuai Rumah (PEMAIK).
It was attended by 20 community leaders while the speakers consisted of FSSK lecturers Professor Dr Spencer Empading Sanggin and Associate Professor Dr Neilson Ilan Mersat.
The purpose was to provide input as well as a platform for community leaders to discuss issues as well as identify challenges.
“The challenges are becoming more dynamic and the leaders need new ideas in managing communities in their respective areas.
“I hope that the participants would use what they have learned from this seminar for the benefit of the grassroots,” said Kuching Division Iban Temenggong Datuk Bernard Aggan Assan.
Meanwhile, deputy dean (industry and community relations) Dr Regina Garai said this seminar would be continued in the future and several USR projects with PEMAIK had been planned.
