SONG: One hundred and fifty-seven community leaders and members of the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) attended the Song district community programme held from Sept 19-23.

The programme, held at the Song hall here, was officiated by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister and Kapit MP, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.

According to Nanta, the programme aimed to clarify the roles and functions of the agencies involved in the Disaster Management Committee to the local residents, especially the JKKKs.

“Such programme is a government commitment to the local people in sharing responsibilities in an effort to build a safer and more prosperous community,” he said.

At the function, five new community leaders received certificates of appointment while 19 community leaders received certificates of reappointment and 50 JKKK secretaries received certificates of appointment.

Also present were Kapit Division Resident, Nyurak Keti, Song District Officer, Jackline August @ August Jahar, political secretary to the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Lidam Assan, Dorainah Labing and representatives of the State Security and Enforcement Unit of the Chief Minister’s Department.
