KUCHING: Community policing will implemented across the state from July 15, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He explained that community policing was necessary in order to educate members of the public on their role to monitor premises in adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOP).
“This federal policy will be implemented in Sarawak involving the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs), Rela, neighbourhood committees and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs),” he said here yesterday.
Uggah who is also State Disaster Management Committee chairman said he had directed the divisional committees to coordinate their role and responsibility.
“During this phase of recovery, we will start with educating the public by working with various agencies. This will enable them to understand the importance of their role to monitor premises compliance to the SOP,” he said.
