BINTANGOR: The Sarawak government has approved several community projects in the Seberang Bintangor area to boost local agriculture and economy.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol stated that one of these projects is the construction of a new road from the ferry terminal to Nanga Bangkit costing RM46 million, managed by the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA).
“We plan to upgrade the existing cement road, which has been in use for decades and has undergone multiple repairs.
“It can only accommodate one car at a time, and since the land on both sides belongs to private owners, we will build a new road.
“I am confident that the project will commence either by the end of this year or early next year because the Sarawak government has already allocated the funds, and I hope it will be used effectively,” he said.
He was officiating at the Gawai celebration for Semop at Rumah Jawi, Nanga Bangkit, Selidap, organised by the Semop Service Centre in collaboration with Tanjong Manis service centre on Sunday.
Additionally, the Semop assemblyman said that an allocation of RM67 million has been approved for constructing a road approximately five kilometres long from Nanga Bangkit to Bunut, continuing to Muara Lebaan, and connecting to the Sibu-Tanjung Manis Road junction.
“The Public Works Department (PWD) has informed us that this allocation under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) is currently in the tender document preparation process, with implementation likely to begin early next year (2025),” he added.
