BAU: The community in this area is urged not to lose hope in combating the issue of drug and substance abuse within their respective communities.

Deputy Minister for Transportation (Riverine and Marine), Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said that as long as this issue still exists within families and the community, it is difficult for them to move forward.

“The effort to combat drugs and substance abuse requires time, energy, and financial resources.

“As members of this community, I believe that we all share the responsibility of creating a healthy community in terms of mental and physical wellbeing.

“Therefore, it is my hope that cooperation and synergy among government agencies, non-governmental agencies, and community members should always be present so that every issue can be handled effectively for the wellbeing of our community and the whole area,” the Tasik Biru assemblyman said.

Henry made these remarks when officiating at the closing ceremony of Karnival Sukan Rakyat here recently.

Meanwhile, he said the carnival was previously held in two different locations, namely in Kampung Bogag, Jago on Aug 26 and Redeems Centre, Singai on Sept 2 this year.

He suggested that a similar carnival be held again, with the implementation covering the zone level in 2024, while the district-level implementation would be held in 2025.

Also present were Bau District officer Constantine Gerald David Jonas and deputy Bau OCPD ASP Jugah Aleng.
