Company launches first health and safety day

KUCHING: Senari Synergy Group (SSG) of Companies launched their first health and safety day, yesterday, at UCSI Hotel.

Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom officiated at the ceremony accompanied by Senari Synergy’s chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Mohd Nor.

Also present were SSG managing director Jefri Ahmad Tambi, Industries and Investment Assistant Minister Malcom Mussen Lamoh, and Demak Laut assemblyman Hazland Abang Hipni.

SSG under its transformation blueprint aspires to be the state flagship in the provision of oil and gas facilities for all major industry players.

In his speech at the launch, Rundi congratulated SSG for its achievements and he mentioned that health and safety were important for every industrial sector.

“The seven million hours without lost time injury speak volumes of this effort. Indeed only a few companies in Malaysia have been able to achieve this.

“Health and safety is important for every industrial sector especially those in the oil and gas industry.

“Employees are the most valuable assets any organisation has. If those employees do not operate in a safe environment, the financial impact would soon become apparent,” he said.

Jefri, in his welcoming speech, said in its effort to rejuvenate and inspire its workforce, SSG had taken a holistic approach to human capital development including benchmarking and reviewing its compensation and benefit system.

SSG has undertaken aggressive training and upskilling initiative, and promoted safe working environment,” he said.

He added that SSG recognises that safe and healthy workplaces meant healthy workers, increased productivity, sustainable development and positive image of the organisation.
