MUKAH: Traders in Mukah Division have been reminded to comply with the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) for the coming Aidilfitri.
As of Monday (April 26), no complaints were received by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) here regarding any violations.
“Enforcement officers will always be going around to ensure the supply of essential and controlled goods is always enough and readily available.
“The SHMMP is from April 21 until May 20 and during the period, nine items are under price control.
“We have found that all controlled items sold at business premises here comply with their set prices and are marked with a pink price tag for easy identification by consumers,” Mukah KPDNHEP head Salihin Din said on Tuesday (April 27).
He added that more than 126 premises were inspected in Mukah Division, including the districts of Daro, Dalat, Matu and Mukah town.
“Errant traders will be prosecuted under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
“Offenders are liable to a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or imprisonment not exceeding three years or both; or to a maximum compound of RM50,000 for individuals and a fine not exceeding RM500,000; or to a maximum compound of RM250,000 for companies.
“Failing to put in place pink price tags for price-controlled items is liable to a fine not exceeding RM10,000 or a maximum compound of RM5,000 for individuals; and to a fine not exceeding RM20,000 or to a maximum compound of RM10,000 for companies.”
The nine items are live chicken (RM6.70 per kg), standard chicken (RM8.50 per kg), super chicken (RM9.50 per kg), Grade A chicken eggs (39 sen each), Grade B chicken eggs (38 sen each), Grade C chicken eggs (37 sen each), imported beef (RM27 per kg), ikan kembung, including mabung (RM11 per kg) and ikan selayang (RM9 per kg).
