BINTULU: The Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) is reviewing its standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be followed by traders and the public if the Pasar Ikan Lama Bintulu is allowed to reopen.
Its general manager Rodziah Morshidi said the reopening of the business premises would have involved a lot of cleaning work besides needing to identify the number of hawkers who wanted to resume their business activities.
“Throughout the recovery movement control order (RMCO), which goes into effect on Wednesday (June 17), BDA will also allow the reopening of public markets and hawker centres including Pasar Utama Bintulu, Pasar Tamu Bintulu, Tapak Niaga Assyakirin, Tapak Niaga Food Truck Tanjung Batu, Pasar Hujung Minggu (Pantai ABF), Pusat Penjaja Local Centre Fair Choice, Pasar Sungai Plan, Gerai Pantai Tanjung Batu, Perhentian 1 Malaysia, Pasar Medan Jaya, Pusat Penjaja Pasar Malam Bintulu, Pusat Penjaja Bandar Jaya as well as Pusat Penjaja Pantai Muhibbah.
“However, all hawkers should do the cleaning work (such as dumping garbage and removing tables and canopies that were left on the site) before commencing their business operations.
“During their cleaning work, they (hawkers) are also advised to practise social distancing, wear face masks, wash hands with soap and water or hand sanitisers regularly and comply with all the RMCO instructions,” she said in a press conference here on Monday.
Rodziah added that operating hours for the public markets and hawker centres are from 6am to 6pm for Pasar Utama Bintulu and Pasar Tamu Bintulu, 2pm to 7pm (Tapak Niaga Assyakirin), 12pm to 8pm (Tapak Niaga Food Truck Tanjung Batu), 7am to 6pm (Pasar Hujung Minggu Pantai ABF, Pusat Penjaja Local Centre Fair Choice, Gerai Pantai Tanjung Batu and Pusat Penjaja Pantai Muhibbah), 10am to 6pm (Pasar Sungai Plan), 7am to 10am (Perhentian 1 Malaysia and Pasar Medan Jaya), 5pm-10am (Pusat Penjaja Pasar Malam Bintulu) and 12pm to 6pm (Pusat Penjaja Bandar Jaya).
At the same time, she called on all parties to continue to play their part in helping the government stop the spread of Covid-19.
