KUCHING: Sarawak police have issued 76 compounds to individuals on Saturday for not wearing face masks in public places, said state deputy police commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar.

“Sibu recorded the most compounds issued with 52, followed by Samarahan with nine compounds.

“Six compounds were issued in Betong, four each in Miri and Padawan and one in Sarikei.

“Meanwhile two locals at a bistro in Sibu were arrested for failing to show their identification card,” he said in a statement.

Dev pointed out that the compliance level in Sarawak is well and the police will continue to enforce the standard operating procedures set, especially the use of face masks in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee informed that to date, 2,015 premises have been monitored throughout the state

They are supermarkets (209), restaurants (476), banks (146), public markets (105), places of worship (101), government offices (84), leisure places (48), hawker stalls (36), factories (20), construction sites (19), and others (771).
