KUCHING: Police issued seven compounds to errant individuals in Kuching district for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Saturday (Aug 14).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that to date 9,907 compounds have been issued to SOP violators.

“The violations given include failing to practise social distancing (four); failing to scan the MySejahtera code before entering the premises (two); and not wearing a face mask whilst in public places (one),” it added.

The SDMC also mentioned that an Indonesian man along with one local man and two local women were arrested for providing invalid cross-district permits.

It was also reported that two Indonesian men were also arrested for escaping from the low-risk quarantine and treatment centre (PKRC) in Sri Aman district.

“The two escapees were handed to the Ministry of Health (MOH) authorities for further action,” it added.

On another note, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has issued three compounds to business operators of premises under the supervision of various local councils.

One compound each was issued under Bau District Council, Kota Samarahan District Council, and Bintulu Development Authority.

The SDMC added that the businesses violated SOPs such as failing to update the customers’ logbook (two) and not registering in MySejahtera or the customers’ logbook (one).

This brings the total amount of compounds issued by local authorities as of Saturday (Aug 14) to 1,412.
