PUSA: The government has approved a comprehensive development plan for Pusa district to ensure it does not lag behind.
The new development plan will be supported by the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) in the implementation of several major projects keenly awaited by the local community.
Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor said the current cramped and congested administrative centre makes it difficult for the authorities to provide much needed services.
“Hence, we are grateful to the government for approving a new, broader Pusa district administration plan to ensure that many facilities can be provided.
“Through the plan, we have identified the components that need to be added to match Pusa’s status as a full district,” he said.
He was speaking at the Batang Lupar Parliament and Beting Maro State Assembly Zone Pusa-level Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering at the Kalok Community Hall on May 9.
He said the proposed projects under BDDA were expected to be implemented in August, as announced by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also the BDDA chairman.
“We have three major projects that have been eagerly awaited, namely the new Pusa District Administration Complex…which has already begun and is now being taken over by a new contractor.
“And a special proposal for Pusa under BDDA, to create a sports complex with all the sports facilities built within the new Pusa district administration.
“In addition, a river embankment project will be built in stages and will begin on the other side of Pusa (near the Tanjung Pasir food court).
“It is understood that the design process is complete and I really hope it can be implemented next August.
“All these projects are important to ensure that Pusa district in general and the Beting Maro state constituency in particular do not lag behind,” he said.
Razaili added that among the projects being built under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) is a roofed sports arena that will be turned into a futsal court for residents to engage in recreational and social activities.
In Kalok, he said, an economic centre and a market will be built in front of the mosque to drive the socio-economic development of the community.
Regarding improvement of business locations in Pusa, Razaili said that he and Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shafizan Kepli are planning to create a new business centre to complement the existing locations.
“I am very firm on this matter so that the community has the opportunity to participate in economic activities, especially with the completion of the transportation network in the coming years.
“Pusa District will be a major attraction then. Therefore, we must be prepared from now on,” he said.
