KUCHING: The Sarawak Wonderful Concert organised by the Sarawak Information Department at the auditorium of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) here, yesterday, was aimed at encouraging people to promote the uniqueness and attractiveness of the state.
It is also part of an initiative taken by the department to support the Visit Sarawak Campaign which was announced last year in expectation of more visitors to the state.
The concert featured 10 artistes from the department’s Pentarama club, seven musicians, a publisher and a publishing supervisor.
During the concert, there was also a video montage on the history of Sarawak and its development progress, performances of different genre of songs to remind the public of achievements throughout the year and also traditional dances to promote the multi-racial character of the state.
Also present at the concert were Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah, Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii and Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong.
Over 200 people attended the concert that also involved students from Sekolah Seni Kuching.
