KUCHING: Asia Pacific Cybersecurity Conference 2023 will bring together leaders and practitioners in the cybersecurity industry from the Asia Pacific region to discuss and exchange knowledge on the latest trends and best practices in cybersecurity from May 19 to May 21 at the Pullman Hotel, here.
Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Dr Muhamamad Abdullah Zaidel said the conference would be expecting participation from many countries in the region such as the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and some countries from the Middle East.
“Interestingly we will also be bringing international and renowned special keynote speaker, Mikko Hypponen from Finland, who will share his insights and experience in the field,” he said.
He added that the conference would also put Sarawak on the global landscape for cybersecurity with participants from Europe also enquiring to join the conference.
He was speaking in a press conference on Asia Pacific Cybersecurity Conference 2023 at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.
Zaidel hopes with the success of this conference, it could be an annual event which will require support from all the stakeholders and partners.
SAINS chief executive officer (CEO), Datuk Dr Anderson Tiong, who was also present at the press conference, said that the main objective of the conference is to gather cybersecurity experts to learn and tap on their talents and experience.
“Cybersecurity is one of the enablers to support the digital economy in Sarawak and the region.
“This industry is very important now and the conference’s components are to get students and professionals to come together to assess where they are at when responding to security incidents,” he said.
The conference will be officiated at by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
It aims to gather 500 attendees from outside Sarawak such as Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and countries within the Asia Pacific region.
Besides that, conference is in collaboration with Cyber8Lab (Australia) and in partnership with CybExer Technology (Estonia). The conference will also feature the Asia Pacific Cyberattack Response Challenge 2023 which will be held concurrently.
This challenge will provide an opportunity for teams from all over the Asia Pacific region to showcase their skills and win attractive prizes. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with peers, learn from experts in the field, and explore the latest cybersecurity products and services.
