BAU: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has reiterated that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will contest in all 82 seats in the coming 12th Sarawak Election.
He said that now the focus of the ruling coalition is to make sure that it will win all the seats allocated to its component parties.
“I don’t think there is any more seat to spare for our friend from Semenanjung (federal Perikatan Nasional coalition) who are friendly with us.
“They have to respect us because GPS has its four component parties. And we have more or less discussed among ourselves which one (seat) is yours and which one is mine. They are too late,” he told reporters.
Before that, he was asked a question as to whether or not GPS would give way to Bersatu (Party Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) in Krian which was held by Bersatu’s Datuk Ali Biju.
Besides that, there are two parliamentary seats held by Bersatu namely, in Saratok by Ali and Puncak Borneo (Datuk Willie Mongin).
The Asajaya incumbent recalled that recently Willie indicated that he would not contest but he would support the GPS candidate in Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency.
“This is a very good gesture from him. I think other YBs (elected representatives) who are not from GPS should do the same. You know what I mean,” he said.
On Nov 5, Willie said that he will give his full support to whoever GPS fields as candidates for the Serembu, Mambong and Tarat seats.
He thus called upon the people in Puncak Borneo to support the GPS candidates in the three respective seats mentioned during the upcoming state election.
Meanwhile, in Sept this year, PN Sarawak chairman Senator Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Suffian said the party’s branch in Sarawak would not compete with GPS.
He said PN here was in line with the federal and state governments’ cooperation to strengthen and complement one another.
Earlier this morning (Nov 7), Abdul Karim was present to flag off the 5th Sarawak Adventure Challenge at Siniawan Town.
